Rimworld - Cinematic Trailer (Fan Made) I'm sharing this because of how criminally underrated this is. Seriously, go take a look!

There are no happy endings on the Rim

    Posted: 25 Nov 2020 06:16 AM PST

Once upon a time on the Rim, at a dusty little town called Devil's Cut:

Anna and Hun were friends, but they would grow to be more than friends. They bonded over a shared experience. You see, Anna had had her left leg ripped off by an angry hippopotamus, while Hun's left hand was destroyed by a villainous raider. They fell in love shortly after their respective misfortunes. Missing a piece of your body makes you appreciate the completeness you feel in a loving relationship, I suppose.

They were to be married, and Anna was now pregnant. Sadly, the Rim rarely gives us feel good stories. A huge infestation of bugs occured about a mile south of the main colony. They weren't an immediate threat, but all the colonists knew the hive would only grow. So they set about making defenses, machine guns, walls, embrasures. After a week of preparation, in which the hive only grew in size, they assualt was ready. The first strike resulted in the deaths of dozens of bugs, but the hives themselves remained untouched. Sadly, Hun couldn't take the stress and broke down, screaming about the inevitability of death. To illustrate the point forming in his delusional mind, he headed south, outside the safety of the 3 meter thick stone walls to a near-forgotten grave to exhume the body. There's a sense of poetry here, I suppose. Hun was heading towards death, but he was also heading towards HIS death.

Maybe the bugs wouldn't see him. Maybe they would ignore him, with his glassy eyes and erratic gait. But no. He was struck down, now missing even more of himself. No help would come, the bugs were legion and the colonists were few. So close to his lover, and yet so utterly alone, Hun perished like so many others have on the Rim. His death was both profoundly meaningful and utterly meaningless at the same time. The bugs were eventually eradicated, wiped out utterly. He need not have died.

Anna was devestated. What did this mean for her? Her future had been taken from her. What is life without love in it? Why toil for a future you can't see for the darkness that clouds your mind?

What about her soon to be born child? How unfair that they wouldn't even know their father! Anna spent weeks in bed, catatonic. No one could console her for months. Kind words fell on deaf ears.

Finally, she began to stir. She steeled herself for single motherhood, though in reality the rest of the colony would be there for her and her child. She was due any day. But the Rim wasn't finished with her and her own.

A nearby colony got wind of the victory of the colony against the insect hives and decided, whether for sport or malice, to attack the colony. But they had heard of the impressive walls at Devil's Cut. They needed a new strategy, a head on assault was a suicide mission. So from far away, outside of the range of the turrets, they sent fire. They sent flames. They sent hell itself. Anna was caught in a blast and horribly burned before she could be saved. Though the raid was eventually defeated, there was a price to pay. In bed, immobililzed with burns and shrapnel injury, Anna miscarried. The last piece of Hun had faded from the Rim. Now, he was nothing more than a memory, to be forgotten like so many others. Just another tombstone. Just another dusty grave.

There are no happy endings on the Rim.

Anyone else done with giant storage rooms?

    Posted: 24 Nov 2020 11:43 PM PST

I just can't not use some kind of storage mod anymore. Having giant rooms with everything piled on the floors or on those vanilla storage racks.
On that note, what do you think is the most balanced and consistent storage mod?

Do you really like the interaction bubbles mod?

    Posted: 25 Nov 2020 01:49 AM PST

I think it's fun when you are early game and only have a few pawns but later on when you have 15+ guys zooming around at 3x speed there's just bubbles everywhere and I just turn them off.
