Vanilla Factions Expanded: Insectoids Preview Posted: 21 Jun 2020 02:38 AM PDT Hi everyone! I hope this is okay to post here. I've had the pleasure of testing the new Vanilla expanded mod, Insectoids recently. I was given the all clear to make a little video showing off some of the stuff, I made sure not to include too much as I don't wanna ruin the fun for when it's released. Enjoy! P.S. This is my first ever video, so any constructive feedback is more than welcome! [link] [comments] |

Mod that make the game more difficult (and preferably not about raids)? Posted: 21 Jun 2020 02:29 AM PDT So I've jumped into a rabbit hole of QoL mods, and can't go back. Those Walmart-sized fridges? Never again! Pawns haul stuff rationally? Yes please! But they make the game a lot easier. And so do most of the mods. Even something fairly neutral like mod that adds weapons shifts the balance in favor of player. Even if your enemies can use these weapons, they are still kinda clueless and don't understand which weapon is good in which situation. While player has more choices. So, to counteract that, I want to make the game harder! I am always playing on Randy Rough Permadeath. I don't want to increase the difficulty level because that'd only make raids bigger and force me into killboxes which I try to avoid, and Cassandra feels too game-y for me. Instead, I want some difficulties unrelated to raids. There are some mods I have: Psychology - I think it makes the game harder overall. Not by much, but not everyone can get along, unlike in vanilla. Dub's Bad Hygiene - it also adds some helpful stuff like central heating and washing machine, but overall it makes the game harder imo. Diseases Overhauled - an underrated mod which makes diseases and injuries significantly more varied and deadly, with additional side effects like sepsis and necrosis. Sometimes it is a bit unfair, but raises the tension. Any other ones you know? I tend to get bored because everything is just too smooth, and thus I don't even get to experience the endgame content. An idea for the body purist trait Posted: 20 Jun 2020 06:11 PM PDT Although body purist is supposed to be the opposite of transhumanist it currently doesn't bring any benefits at all. Transhumanist is a slight mood debuff at the beginning of the game unless you want to cripple the pawn with a suboptimal prosthetic but a massive mood bonus in the late game. The increased opinion of others with bionics also makes it easier for them to develop and stay in relationships for further mood bonuses, and they don't have any negative opinions of pawns without augments. Meanwhile body purists get no mood buffs for having an unaugmented body and no increased opinion for other pawns without augments. They also end up hating the bionic super soldiers who defend your base in the late game. What I would like to see instead is a minor(maybe +2/3?) mood boost for body purists without any augments and also a minor positive social thought of other pawns without any augments (maybe +5?). This would turn the trait into an early game boost which then turns into a late game debuff as you get access to more access to bionics and the inevitable need to get rid of scars and lost limbs occurs. Another thing I would suggest is to have body purists ignore or even gain approval of pawns with scars because they appreciate someone dealing with the "limitations of the human body" rather than just replacing the damaged part with a bionic. This would fit with the in-game description. TLDR: transhumanist is bad in the early game and good in the late game, so body purist should be good in the early game and bad in the late game (currently only the second part is true).
