Fuck me sideways, Randy got his revenge in the end.

Large infestation spawned right next to my base, going to try to makeshift a gas tunnel to there. Or something.

Does anyone else think that this game could use more random events for caravans?

    Posted: 18 Dec 2020 07:04 AM PST

Currently there are only 4 events that can happen during your caravaning adventures on the rim, 3 of which are pretty much the same thing. To me that's kinda... lame.

I tried to find a mod that adds new random events that could spice up your adventures, but had no luck. To me that is unfathomable. How can it be that no one has thought of this before! There is so much potential here! Some examples off the top of my head:

    • Find a crashed ship. You can choose to explore or continue.

    • Find some old ruins. You can choose to explore or continue.

    • Find a cave system. You can choose to explore or continue.

    • Spot some travellers. You can choose to approach or continue without being seen. Are they friendly? Only one way to find out.

    • Find a wandering trader, who will sell a small selection of extremely rare and valuable items, but for higher prices.

    • Find a herd of domesticated animals without a master who are willing to join your caravan, if you let them.

    • Find a hut in the wilderness. I wonder what's inside?

    • Find a random traveller who is willing to join you.

    • Find a treasure map showing a marked location on the world map nearby.

    • Find a lost pet or a prisoner, belonging to one of the factions. You can choose to ignore them go or take them back to a specific colony of said faction . Doing so will make them like you more and they might possibly even give you a reward.

Etc, etc. I could go on forever but I think you get the point. Something like this would be awesome, yeah? You could even have a caravan just roam around randomly, exploring and trying to find cool stuff in the world that is not tied to a damn quest for a change. Please give me a reason to go out there and explore the rim!

Well, today my colonists evolved the cruel rimworld that was house to their ancestors (Started as medieval VFE) to an abundant glitterworld, its sad to see the end finally, but the end of SoS2 (In my opinion) is very fitting and kinda emotional, loved the mod, 10/10 could become archotech again

THE PLAN: BUY RPG FROM TRADER, USE IT AGAINST THEM, PROFIT $$$

AT THIS MOMENT, I REALIZED, I FUCKED UP (caravan had other explosives at them)

    Some backstory:

So one of my viewers suggested I do a merciless pirate theme run. I got about 2 hours in, really involved with my band of 5 pawns (my favorite probably being my incapable of violent psychopath). I had the great idea to raid a caravan. The plan? Purchase a doomsday rocket launcher from them and use it against them. What could go wrong? Just about everything. I forget to factor in that they had other explosives in their caravan when purchasing the rocket launcher. Result? A lot more fireworks went off than I was planning resulting in the death of all participants of trade caravan (woo!), all 4 refugees I literally rescued 3 minutes ago for the sole reason to sacrifice them to the ambush (sacrifice was successful), and my colonist Mason who was my Insomniac pirate alongside a good portion of my scuffed base. Technically I spent 1k on the Doomsday and got 1.8k silver and some plasteel and some gold.. The other goods perished in the explosion... soo profit?

Wcgw if we burn our prison while still inside?

    Posted: 18 Dec 2020 04:11 AM PST

So last night my six prisoners tried to escape. I'm using Prison Labor's revolt system, and they all got molotovs. They deciced to toss them all around their barracks and the adjacent quarry room.

The walls were all stone, but everything else inside - including the floors - were wood. I decided to let them simmer a little, and by the time I put out the flames, they had already passed out from heatstroke.

Unfortunately, it took too long for the tenperature to normalize, and 4 out of the 6 prisoners died. Hope they learned their lesson not to try to escape a stone prison using fire.

I'd say this lined up pretty well.

Have you ever been this unlucky?

    Posted: 18 Dec 2020 04:15 AM PST

Two weeks worth of building up gone in a flash on permadeth. Randy gave me an infected ship part slap bang in the middle of my base, followed seconds later by a pack of manhunting dogs. I was relatively safe behind my walls until Matt (bottom left) went against my zone instructions to collect his weapon from beyond the wall, and got downed ON THE DOOR TILE, leaving my base wide open to a Troy-style sacking.
