    /r/RimWorld is looking for moderators

    Howdy colonists,

I hope you're all doing well. This is an open call for users with RimWorld and/or general moderator experience to volunteer for the /r/RimWorld moderator team.

The last time we did this was almost four years ago and the community has grown substantially in that time. While you've all done a great job self-managing, /r/RimWorld is approaching 250,000 subscribers and the mod team is looking to grow to better serve the subreddit. You should apply to join if any of the following sounds like something you'd be interested in.

    • Rule design and enforcement - for its size, /r/RimWorld has very few rules. While the subreddit doesn't have too many bad actors, if you have an idea on how to curtail bad behavior on the subreddit and can step up to the plate to go through the modqueue then your janitorial services are formally requested.
    • Community management - want to see more subreddit events? Looking to pull a group of like-minded psychopaths gamers together into a firmer community? Take a crack at it!
    • Automation and CSS - if you're a techie and you know it: raise your hands. Many of the current moderators are old guard redditors. I personally never made the switch to new.reddit.com but I understand there are some great moderator tools if only one could learn to use them.
    • Tipsy Tynan team - sometimes /u/TynanSylvester likes to unwind with a brew after a long day of programming. Sometimes he has too many. Sometimes he comes into the modmail and is very chummy. If you have interest in wrangling an inebriated Canadian into bed, tucking him in, and reading to him then go ahead and apply you weirdo.

I'll level with you: there aren't many benefits to being a moderator. Sure, you can turn your name green and lie without consequence, but it's a volunteer position and it'll be expected that you put some effort into making the subreddit better. Please keep in mind that inactive moderators do not improve /r/RimWorld. If you don't think you can commit at least a few hours each week to any of the above please do not apply.

If indeed you are a fellow masochist then, please, send a modmail using this link. It's pre-filled with some of the things the current mod team would like to know about potential candidates but feel free to jazz it up. More words aren't always better but demonstrating effort is always a plus. Do not comment your application on this post. These will not be considered and I will encourage other users to laugh at you for not following the instructions.

This post and the applications will be open for a few days so everyone can see it. This post will be edited once applications are closed. Shortly thereafter, we'll begin contacting users via PM. We probably won't be adding new mods on an ongoing basis after this but I reckon it won't be another four years either.

As always, may the organs of your enemies be showered upon you.

Ever dislike being around other people so much that you find a mountain in the middle of a lake, build a bunch of robots, have them hollow it out, and live there instead?

    Colony Rebellion Mod

    Posted: 08 Jul 2020 07:31 AM PDT

Just a small idea about a mod I think would be cool. I've got like 100 mods and no idea at this point what does what, but there's an event in the game where colonist will defect and I think a separate one where they'll just give up and leave.

Anyway I'm thinking of a trait that could be added to the game where colonists aren't okay with morally reprehensible things. And if you get one in your colony and some of there bigger mood debuffs are from slavery/killing innocents they have a whatever you think is necessary % chance to have a mental break associated with the trait and they'll rebel in some form.

You can make it so *other colonists with this trait have some chance to join them OR If they happen to be on a mental break.

Something in that realm would be cool. I can almost see a DLC like faction opposed to the Empire. Morally rigid faction/characters who have " been through it" and are hardened. Some sort of leader based system maybe instead of Royalty?

Idk, sound like Rimworld to me, I'm thinking of pretty much a faction of a bunch of little Rick Grimes's.
