Posted: 14 Jan 2020 12:04 AM PST Rimworld is a game that we all know and love. It's very underrated but the community keeps growing. I think what keeps us "strapped" to this game is that everything is random. Characters, worlds, events. And the other factor is that the game perfectly depicts the human behavior. (Except the table part.) My first scenario was Rich Explorer. Zero knowledge of the game and i decided to go for one of the hardest scenarios. (At the 4th raid i was dead.) Learned a few things from that. But realizing that this game had so much to offer was the sense of well spent money. In general this game is great. I would never get bored. P.S- All Hail Randy. A story - The consequences of ignoring infestations Posted: 13 Jan 2020 08:25 AM PST So I was playing on a map that had a mountain in the NE corner and SE corner seperated by a river. I dug my base into the SE side and did some exploratory mining in the NE mountain for materials like steel and components. Then at some point I put doors on those tunnels so raiders wouldn't use it as a backdoor into my base. I get an infestation notice, but the bugs have popped up in the NE mountain, so I leave that alone since they aren't in my way and they're locked in those tunnels. The bugs chip away at the interior but don't seem to be digging their way out. And over time a few more infestations happen, but they keep happening up there. So I think that's cool, Randy is obviously missing my base. Meanwhile these bugs are multiplying. A lot. So times goes on, I keep an eye on the bug cavern and make sure they aren't digging their way out and go about my life. I build my spaceship and now I'm fighting the raids. My trap kill box is doing its job, until the sapper raid. They decide its easier to avoid the trap box and break through a couple of doors and a wall to reach the river which then leads right into the base. And that's when the raiders unleashed hell. So many bugs. We've got a little over one day until launch of the spaceship. At first I figured this was a win, the bugs destroyed the raiders easily. Except now the bugs were pissed and began pathing around the map and into the killbox entrance. Fuck. Now, I begin loading pawns into the cryopods. I keep my best doctor and three fighters outside to hold the line. The ship is in a hidden area that you have to go through the base to reach. The interior of the base has a good number of turrets which was meant to slow down any interior infestation. Still like a hundred bugs. We're full on Starship Troopers now. The bugs pour into the trap box, taking out a good number, but not enough. The three soldiers holding the line are doing well at first, but eventually their position is getting overrun. They begin retreating into the base. One manages to make it into the comms room, and the other two make it into the hospital with our doctor who also patches them up. The turrets are distracting the bugs, but there's still too many and they're still pissed. The pawn in the comms room calls our ally for immediate military assistance. Only a few hours until launch, the bugs, their numbers down to about 25, are about to break into the two rooms when our ally finally comes. They put up a surprisingly good fight. With a couple hours until launch, their valiant distraction allowed the final colonists to escape to their cryopods. But sadly, our brave allies were no match for the bugs. With one hour to go, and the bugs only being held back from the ship by a single Granite door, it was time for the last resort. Unleashing the Muffalo. My Muffalo herd was about 30 strong and kept in a stable next to the ship. Their stampede into the bugs bought the final few seconds necessary to launch the ship. All 20 colonists escaped with their lives. Days later, a wanderer happened upon the now abandoned base. The killbox entrance was littered with dead bugs and leftover raiders. The fields outside the mountain entrance were covered with more dead bugs the blood of the allies. As the wanderer entered the mountain base, he found that it was largely intact, firefoam poppers kept the exploding turrets from doing any real damage. The power grid was still entact. He followed the trail of blood and dead bugs around the corner, to a hidden alcove in the mountain, when suddenly he heard a sound! Four Muffalo grazing in the open field, with a spaceship shaped hole left in the field of haygrass. Edit: My first gold! Yay! Thank you! I'm glad you all enjoyed the story. [link] [comments] |
Outstanding game! With some sections i dont understand yet! Please advise! Posted: 14 Jan 2020 08:03 AM PST Hay everyone, Just to start by saying this game is phenomenal especially considering it was made by such a teeny developer and the modding community just adds a taatey cherry on top. Anyway ive played 3 colonies now and never launched a single ship, i usually get into late game nd either get distracted by all the st00f or hit a bottleneck for advanced component non of which i have issue with. I notice these quests to rescue prisoners and trade for some epic stuff but im lost with the general traveling of the map, what do i require to survive besides food? What if someone gets injured while away? And can i capture people and bring them home? Overall is it worth the risk? I fear sending out some of my better colonist and them getting perma killed forever. Cheers :) [link] [comments] |

Immediate Encounter with Boomaloopes Posted: 14 Jan 2020 12:18 AM PST Boomaloope. When you hear that name shivers go down your spine. When i first got the game I explored has much has i could. Looking at the animals. Plants. Everything. Until I hear "Manhunter Boomaloopes" Boomaloopes? I never heard of that. Looked like rats with diseases. Has any new person would I told my pawns to wait at base and attack them when they we're near. That's a lesson I didn't forget... [link] [comments] |
