New colony, new situation, let's go Cast: Elsbeth

    Skipper

    Andrade

It was a normal day in this colony, everyone was helping building up the house. Up in the sky, Skipper and Anadre saw a falling ship reaching approaching their colony.

    Enter speech.

Skipper That ship sure is coming close huh? Andrade eh, it will probably land ajacent to the colony, no need to worry.

First ship part drops. Ancient soldiers emerge, some dead... Then, a flurry of armed ships fall from the sky. Skipper was directly underneath one of the falling compartments so Andrade pushed him out of the way. Skipper dodged Randy's quite massive bullet but Andrade was badly injured. Elsbeth ran out to see what the noise was and figured it was coming from South, only to find Skipper carrying Andrade on his back. "Salvage something" he said while carrying his dying friend. Elsbeth did what she could and salvaged a Turret, plasma rifle and strange stick with a boomrat tumor. Skipper, untrained to work medically called elsbeth to take care of the sounds. He only had four hours...

    "Ancient assault"

The ancient were coming in to the base with only two injured men. Elsbeth had finished tending to Andrade, had called Skipper to defend the colony.

    Enter conversation

Elsbeth come on, I headed some weird shouting coming from the beach, sounds like ancient dialect if I can recall

Skipper well then, let's g-oh my goodness, a fire!

There was a small fire on their house and a large one approaching the beach. The saw explosives deep in the fire but they still decide to approach the ancients. One had a shotgun, the other unarmed. Still, the firewall might just make this battle harder than it should be. The pass the firewall... BOOM! The explosives burst behind the two colonists. With Randy's luck, the are both went unscaved, dodging shrapnel and eardrum destruction. Nevertheless, they still had ancients to fight. The unarmed one was pretty easy to dispatch. Elsbeth left to tend to the firey aftermath while Skipper took care of the other one. He was too injured to fight back so Skipper took care of him easily. The deed was done. The fires died down and the colony gets to live easily. Anarade healed from his wounds and got to choose which of the salvaged weapons he gets to upgrade to. He saw a legendary mace on the ground and decided to name it "survivors mace" after the terror he had to face.

    End

How much does the start location matter?

    Posted: 12 Jan 2020 11:55 PM PST

EDIT: how much does it matter in respect to raids and ambushes, obviously I grasp the concept of climate and temperature

I recently picked a cell that was super far away from any hostiles, yet I didn't notice a decrease of raids or caravan ambushes. So, does it really matter where I start my colony as long as it is not inside someone else's territory?

So as most of you saw the rimworld comics are finished.

I just want to know where do we go from here? Those stupid comics were one of my favorite things to look at on this sub a close second to the human rights violations. Amazing comics and I don't think we're going to be the same without them.

Mod that prevents colony animals from hunting specific wild animals?

    Posted: 12 Jan 2020 11:48 PM PST

I got some carnivorous animals and they often hunt wild animals for a living. But they sometimes hunt what I planned for taming or they hunt stronger animals causing emergency. Is there a mod that forbids hunting specific wild animals?

Is there a mod list or a specific mod to get rid of one man pirate raids and other wierd things.

    Posted: 13 Jan 2020 05:42 AM PST

I want to make the faction AI to be more like real players. Not seding constant raids when they just die.
