Typical Tuesday Tutorial Thread -- December 08, 2020

    Posted: 08 Dec 2020 12:13 AM PST

Please use this thread as a week-to-week space to ask your fellow /r/RimWorld colonists for assistance. Whether it be colony planning, help with mods, or general guidance, post any questions you may have here! If you have an effort post about a game mechanic then this is also fine space for that but please consider making a separate subreddit post for maximum visibility. I am a bot, so I can't make jokes. If you'd like a Typical Tuesday joke, or if there are any problems with this post, please message the moderators of the subreddit.

Knocked down an early game raider after a brief fight, went to capture him and realised he wasn't downed because of pain, but rather was fully conscious and simply missing both legs... That's pretty hardcore

    The slow challenge

    Posted: 08 Dec 2020 04:56 AM PST

I decided to try something different for my current playthrough. I'm playing only on default speed, not even fast-forwarding at night.

The idea came about when I was high one night and just wanted to take it nice and easy. I've ended up loving it. Its gotten me a lot more invested in the characters. One of my original colonists died & it hit me so much harder. I'm even invested in the lives of my two favourite donkeys.

When I queue something up to be built it feels more significant. My throne room expansion has taken ages, but the slow process makes it feel like the massive project that it is.

Sometimes when we rush through a game to get to the ending we miss all the small bits that make it more personal & rewarding.
