Never had my own tactics used against me...

This has to be one of the strangest game overs i've had since i started playing over a year ago!
I've been working on a mountain base for a good three ingame years now, and i was starting to get pretty well established. Most raids weren't a match for my entrance of death, and with a duo of incredible scientists, i was unlocking tech after tech. Tim Horton the immortal moose just had his first kill during a recent tribal raid (one of them made it through the hallway due to the sheer number of them), and another immortal i had downed during the raid had just reached 0% resistance, and would soon join my colony as well.

But then randy threw the infestation at me.
i went to look where it surfaced, and it couldn't have been worse.
Deep within my base lies the Rimefeller hall, a large production hall where oil is pumped, processed, and used to satisfy my ever increasing power needs. as the hives popped up one by one, the spiders started gnawing on the chemfuel tank, and soon enough, it exploded.

I thought i was playing it safe by adding broad walking paths in between the different sections of the oil production plant, but it easily proved itself far from enough. Within seconds, there was a raging fire the size you'd think an antigrain warhead had a romantic affair with a crate of incendiary rounds. To make matters worse, the doors i had set open in a desparate attempt to try and lure the insects away from there helped spread the superheated air (which, because of the size of the fire, was quite extreme), through the base at an accellerated pace, forcing my pawns to make a mad dash for survival, heading outside and rescuing anything important they can.

Then they slowed down. Already hurt from combat along with damage they were taking from the hot air, the slow dredge through the entrance hall, which had prevented a thousand deaths at the hands of angry tribesfolk and marauding pirates, proved itself to be the nail in the coffin, as pawn after pawn fell, either attempting to reach the blast door at the mountain edge themselves, or trying to carry those who had succumbed to it there.

And that, my fellow colonists, is how bugs gave me a taste of my own medicine.

I was really disappointed. The enemies numbered no more than a somewhat-large raid, their gear was hodge-podge and none of them seemed to use psychic abilities, and the base was absolutely tiny, not much bigger than a starting colony. None of it felt like they were part of a galactic empire at all, hell they only had mini-turrets and sandbags for defenses. I'd really recommend downloading RimCities if it's available for 1.1 if you want a more fitting experience. I hope they fix this in the base DLC.
